Just plain Junk

Pros

Cons

  • Handlebar Mount
  • Won't operate correctly

Comments:

Junk !!! The instructions are terrible when it comes to operating the unit. The unit would not reset trip functions. The only way I could make it operate was to do a master reset every time I rode. Then I would loose all data. Tried to contact Bontrager and guess what….There is NO PHONE NUMBER PUBLISHED for them. Check their website. They finally responded to my emails and told me to read the instructions…Now that's customer service! I returned it.

Exceptionally poor instructions

About Me Avid Cyclist

Pros

  • Easy to Read
  • Lightweight

Cons

    Best Uses

    Comments:

... make installation way more frustrating than it ought to be. Manual eschews words for simple pictures. Simple, inaccurate pictures. Online manual is somewhat more comprehensive but still head-scratchingly incomplete. Once you get it on, operation is straightford, display is easy to read. Battery life TBD. Note: Get that sensor close (2mm) and line it up with the white line on the pointy/flat portion of the transmitter (not the center of it as pictures suggest)

This was a gift from my daughter. Mounting took longer than necessary as literature didn't even mention rubber shims. I mounted two places on bar and tried wire ties before I noticed rubber pads - then mounted ok. Directions on included literature didn't explain how to mount. Printed more detailed instructions online but they didn;t explain either. Display would pick up info from wheel - took to bike shop that sold it. They fixed in couple minutes - the way they adjusted was not in any instruction. Also, I've followed instructions but don't get the results mfgr says. Maybe my unit is newer/older than instructions.

      NOT a good choice

      Comments:

Recommended by the bike store salesperson. Had Cateye in the past and now really wish I had stuck with them. Agree that button presses are very finicky ...no consistency on the duration needed to advance to the next display. As a result, in screwing the buttons and in trying to reset for new rides, I have now entered into the wheel size and odo reset mode unintentionally 2 times and getting the settings back right is not intuitive even with the manual in hand - Never had that problem with past computers. Can't understand why any bike store sells this unit

      Comments:

Not sure what everyone else was talking about with battery problems, I still have the battery it came with in mine and have had it on 3 different bikes now. It works great and I have had no problems with it at all. My guess is most people do not have the sensors close enough and that is why they can't get it to read all the time. Mine has never done anything they have said with not working properly. Only bad thing I can say is that is does not glow in the dark when I'm riding at night.

Straight out of the box I didn't like it. You need to press button in specific spot for them to work. I should of knew when it came with the battery in the box an not in the unit that it would eat battery fast.

I bought this devise because it was easy to read and simple to install. It does not have a lot of bells or whistles but I wasnt looking for that. What I was looking for was a dependable product. This is not dependable. If I did not use my bike for over a week or two the battery would die. I have had to change the battery 4 times in less than a year. Each time I had to change the battery, I lost all of my stored information. I am now looking for a different brand.

      Pros

      • It turns on
      • Good when working

      Cons

      • Rarely works properly
      • Wireless device fails
      • Connection Problems
      • Rarely calculates speed
      • Extremely Unreliable
      • Randomly stops working

      Best Uses

      • Not for a serious rider

      Comments:

I bought this computer only three weeks ago and it has functioned for maybe half my rides. The connection is lost between the wireless device and the actual computer nearly every time I ride. I tried to replace the battery and all that accomplished was not being able to get the cap of the battery compartment to stay on without the use of rubber bands and duct tape. This device has been extremely frustrating. I would not recommend this product no matter what kind of rider you are.

Received as a gift so no way to return it. From the very beginning, the sending (wireless) unit has not worked. I have tried everything (new batteries, adjust mounting position) nothing works. It will send signal for and the MPH will display briefly then it will go back to 0. Ironically, my old odometer which worked very well was a cheap unit I bought from [...]. I am going to reinstall it.
